Ask Angie: Tops on the bias

I know skirts on the bias are a big no-no for pears (I found YLF and read Angie's advice about how to dress and not dress these shapes after I made several bias linen skirts so I can attest to that, even when they're A-line, alas), but what about tops on the bias? Is bias always bad for these bodies? Or would a woven tank cut on the bias be OK?

Actually, skirts cut on the bias are GREAT for apple shaped bodies.

Bias cut tops tend to be great on pears, but less so on apples unless the cut is adequately forgiving on the mid-section.

Augh, so this is confusing, then. Sorry for wrongly restating your advice! I'll edit.

I think I'm a pear, but my waist is significantly gone these days, with all the extra weight (working on it, working on it!). I hate how these skirts look on me, though.

I'd definitely make these tops with a decent amount of ease in the middle — I'd have to, given that they're woven, and they still have to accommodate my hips somehow!

No worries at all, Word Lilly. Bias cuts are a little tricky. I hope we see some of the tops you make.
