Seasons and Nature Challenge #2

I had DH snap a photo (outside (#2-4) in a hurry this morning, and then as I was out and about I just kept thinking of all the little details I'd missed / not gotten around to thinking about to help it reflect (heh) this photo for the challenge. Sigh.

So when I got home I tried again (inside, #1).

Still not thrilled with this interpretation; others have done it so much better! I do think I'm happy with the outfit, though; I'd planned to wear my soft brown maxi cardi for the brown tones (and the lace at the cuff might echo the small feather shapes, I thought), but by kismet I ran across this long forgotten handknit shawl and threw it on instead.

I added lipstick, a navy bracelet, white earrings and my sunglasses for a bit refinement (maybe?).

Handknit hemp/cotton tank, Vigoss bootcuts, Nocona boots, handknit cotton shawl.

    Thanks, Donna!

I love #1. Woohoo! You look smashing!

The pictures outdoors are lovely too. But you exude a sense of attitude and style in #1 that makes one want to turn around and look at you again! :D

Thank you, Maneera! I certainly felt more pulled together in #1.

I like it! I think the bracelet is a good addition, but I would personally leave the earrings and sunglasses off. What I like about the outdoor pics is that you have your hair all flowy - I think it works better with the mood of the outfit.

I think you did great! I love the deep color on you and the shawl is such a beautiful addition :)
The outdoor pics are awesome and I love seeing your lil one... maybe have him pose with you the next time!

Great ideas here and you captured the mood, colors and more. 1 is my favorite.

I really like the addition of the bracelet, and how well your new boots match the color of the shawl. All the shapes are great on you!

With the shawl's plum trim exactly matching the tank (did you use the same yarn?), I thought you were wearing a cold shoulder top at first glance, and thought that style was amazing on you. Neat effect!

Also... love seeing glances of your wee one!

You nailed it! You've capture the essence of the photo beautifully...the colours, their placement, the light and dark. Brilliant!

It's interesting. I felt like the outfit mostly failed to capture the photo, even after the changes. But maybe I was wrong! :)

Here's a question: Three handknits in one outfit, that weren't made as a coordinating set (such as a hat, scarf and mittens), is usually something I wouldn't dare. Is it over the top here?

Astrid: I certainly am much more ALGO in #1 than is standard for me. Taking the earrings off would probably get it closer to my norm. The sunglasses are pretty standard when I'm outside and it's sunny, and when I'm inside their place is taken by my regular specs. And I'm intrigued by your comment about my hair down: I guess I was probably just being way too literal when I thought putting it up was more accurately translating the pheasant's sleekness. Thanks, I'm enjoying thinking about this more.

    Thank you, Ankita and Joy!

Ooh, interesting, Jenn! I've never even tried on a cold shoulder top, but they do fascinate me. And nope, not the same yarn in the shawl and the tank. They were made 5 years apart from each other, and even the fiber content is different. And thank you!

    Diane G, thanks so much!

I like the drama in #1, along with the other little details you added. Very nice!

    Killer

Dramatic and on trend. Well done.

LOVE the footwear with your hair. Excellent bookending.

  • Word Lily replied 8 years ago

    Thanks so much, Aida!

Oh wow, Angie! Thank you! That's so good to hear. And yes, I'm really glad I found and decided on these boots, even if for the color alone.

  • Carole replied 8 years ago

Wow, I think you did a fantastic job interpreting this...I love the dramatic flare with the scarf:)

It's really nice and I love your handknits!

You look great!! Can't wait to join in soon with my own pictures :)

Love this. The little details you changed for #1 that I noticed - lipstick and pointy toed boots - really make a big difference.
