WIW: Long cardi from the last time around

Another quick early morning appointment, another excuse for a topper.

I've had this topper since the last time long soft cardigans were in stores. I thought I'd purged it, but it was still in my closet. I know it's probably showing its not-currentness — that tie! — but I still like the length and the bell sleeves, so I threw it on over a tank this morning.

I'll be knitting a more modern take on a long cardigan pretty soon, but in the meantime ...

It feels weird to be wearing toppers over tanks; I know it's not exactly uncommon in more of a business suit context, but it feels odd to me. However, it does seem to suit (Ha!) these days' temperature swings.

Oh, and I finally tried out my phone camera's timer function, and you can see the back half of Maisie in that last photo.

The proportions and soft colors are flattering on you!  The Birkies finish the look off casually and funky factor.  You might try adding a long pendant to add some polish and dress up the outfit, if that is part of your goals.

I really like the blue in your glasses, it adds a spark to your face.  You look great!

I really like the blues! The tank paired with the bootcuts looks very fresh and vibrant. I like the long topper on you...great layering piece. I'm glad you didn't purge it, since it's proving to be so useful with these temperature fluctuations!

    Maisie has a cute bottom.

The old maxi cardi is a little snug all over, but the colour is nice with the turquoise and GREAT with your hair. It's almost an exact match. Those jeans fit really well, Word Lilly. I look forward to seeing your new self-made long cardi.

I wear toppers over tanks all the time. Some days (many days here), it's the only way to successfully manage the crazy temperature swings. Plus (and these are my body issues peeking through), it keeps my upper arms from feeling quite as much like sausages when I can keep the layers on them to a minimum.

I don't think the cardi looks terribly dated, but my eye for such things is terrible. Your jeans look great!

I think the colors look soft and very nice on you.  I am impressed with your patience to knit a long sweater.  I have a sweater coat I started last year that I'm still working on!  I am in the almost finished stages.  I need to knit one more sleeve.  Maybe I will get it done for fall?!

Generally: These are one of my two favorite pair of jeans right now, glad to hear you all concur. And it's nice to hear that I'm mostly on track with colors for myself; that's one area I feel like I have a good handle on: knowing what colors look good on me.

Oh, Staysfit! This one is going to take a lot of patience! It's in very very skinny laceweight on tiny needles, besides being long and in a large size. I've swatched, but the next step is to calculate stitch counts based on that and my base pattern. I've knit lots of major projects, though; I've usually motored through, unless I hit a snag. I hope you get yours finished and can wear it, too!

    Thanks, greycat6 and Maneera!

Angie, yeah, I'm not thrilled with the fit of this cardi, but then again, fashion has shifted toward a much more loose fit in the years since this was produced, hasn't it? This soft brown color is a very comfortable color for me to wear. I still have trouble thinking of my hair as brown, but apparently that's what it is these days. Maybe that's why I'm so cozy in that color, though. Maisie has a cute face, too; I'll try to get a new photo to share soon.

Jenn, I know what you mean about the arms. I ignore that one successfully most of the time (it's not like there aren't other problem areas for me to obsess over), but it's not like I love how my upper arms look.

I love your cardigan! The colour is great on you, and I like the rib knit.
I like how you have it going straight down in pic #1.

I love the color of the cardi on you. If you could find or make clothing in that color it would be one of your most versatile colors .
Those jeans are a great fit ,and bootcut, and dressy, right on style. Great item for Fall :)

You look like a gingery dark blonde.

The red is leftover from last summer when I went red with purple chunks. I've got twinges of red, but that's it, naturally.

Snapped a pic of Maisie! Happy National Dog Day (apparently)!

Maisie has such a cute face.  What kind of dog is she?

  • Word Lily replied 8 years ago

:) She's an Old English Sheepdog, Joy

What a sweet doggie! If only I had bangs like that! ;)

  • Word Lily replied 8 years ago

If we had bangs like that maybe we wouldn't need sunglasses, Smittie? ;) (They're supposed to help protect their sensitive eyes from the sun. But it also makes her practically blind sometimes.)

Great shade of blue... Anticipating your knitted version as I admire those with such skills!

  • Word Lily replied 8 years ago

    Thanks, Tracey!
